Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might look out of place, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group knows exactly where to head next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks retribution.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and warns that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as key figures in the influential clan could help the team access areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and Wicander defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the remote area in quest for Casimir.
Future Episodes
Based on the recent installment’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to form the Seekers and Schemers tables.
Audiences can expect finding out which players will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, released on next week.
